Sell and buy back
Know what you'd keep before you jump out.
How it works
Three steps, no guesswork.
- 1
Pick shares and a price
How many you'd sell, and at what price. Nothing is placed; it's just the numbers.
- 2
See the buy-back price
The highest price at which the money from the sale buys back every share, with selling and buying fees counted.
- 3
Try a later price
Pick any price and see how many shares the money would buy, and what's left over.
Good to know
- Selling 125 MTN Ghana shares at GHS 8.16 leaves GHS 997.05, which buys them back at GHS 7.80 or lower.
- Fees on the two trades together: GHS 44.88.
- Set an email for when the stock trades at or below a price you choose, even after you've sold.
Questions
About sell and buy back
Is this a tip to sell and buy back?
No. It's arithmetic on fees. It doesn't predict prices, and prices may never reach a level you pick. The decision is always yours.
Why isn't the buy-back price just the sale price?
Both trades have fees. The sale's fees come off what you receive, and buying back adds fees on top, so the price has to be lower for the same money to buy the same shares.
