Our manifesto

Fees shouldn't be a surprise.

Most people who buy shares know the price they paid. Far fewer know the price they need to sell at to get that money back. That gap is made of fees: brokerage and levies on the way in, and again on the way out. On a small holding, it can take a rise of five percent just to stand still. We built Breakeven to make that gap visible.

What we believe

  1. You should know your number before you sell.

Not roughly. Not after the Contract Note arrives. Before. The price that gets your money back is the most useful number in investing, and almost nobody is shown it.

  2. Exact beats close enough.

Fees are worked out to the pesewa, one charge at a time, the way your broker does it. If a statement doesn't add up, we don't import half of it and guess the rest. We refuse it and say why.

  3. Facts, never tips.

We will never tell you to buy, sell or hold. We show what your numbers mean after fees. The levels you watch are always yours to choose, and so is every decision.

  4. Your money and your data stay yours.

We don't connect to your brokerage account, place trades or hold money. We read your statement and discard the file. Your name, address and account number are never stored.

  5. Plain words, always.

Gross consideration, CSD levy, ex-dividend date: we explain the jargon instead of hiding behind it. If something we write is unclear, that's ours to fix.

  6. Start at home, then go further.

We started with the Ghana Stock Exchange and IC Securities because that's where the need was. Every fee rule is data, so more brokers and markets can follow without starting again.

Investing is hard enough. Knowing what it costs shouldn't be.
