Short answer
Each trade pays four statutory levies (0.70% in total) plus brokerage, on buys and sells alike. The total rate is 2.50% up to GHS 500, 2.25% up to GHS 5,000, 2.00% up to GHS 10,000 and 1.75% above, applied to the whole trade.
Every trade on the Ghana Stock Exchange through IC Securities pays two kinds of charge: four statutory levies and IC's brokerage commission. They're charged on the gross consideration (shares × price) of each trade, on buys and sells alike.
The levies
| Levy | Rate |
|---|---|
| CSD levy | 0.15% |
| SEC levy | 0.15% |
| GSE levy | 0.35% |
| Market development levy | 0.05% |
The total rate depends on the trade size
IC quotes an all-in rate (levies plus brokerage) that falls as the trade gets bigger. The rate applies to the whole trade, not just the part above each step.
| Gross consideration | Total rate | Of which brokerage |
|---|---|---|
| Up to GHS 500 | 2.50% | 1.80% |
| Over GHS 500 to 5,000 | 2.25% | 1.55% |
| Over GHS 5,000 to 10,000 | 2.00% | 1.30% |
| Over GHS 10,000 | 1.75% | 1.05% |
Rounding
Each charge is worked out separately and rounded to the pesewa, then the charges are added up. That's how they appear on a Contract Note, and how Breakeven calculates them, so its figures match yours exactly.
A bigger sale can leave you with more money
Because the rate drops at each step, crossing one can mean more money in your hand:
| Sale | Fees | You receive |
|---|---|---|
| GHS 5,000.00 | GHS 112.50 | GHS 4,887.50 |
| GHS 5,001.00 | GHS 100.01 | GHS 4,900.99 |
Breakeven checks every price step around these edges when it works out a break-even or a target, so the price it shows is always the lowest one that works.

Rates are set by IC Securities and the regulators and can change. Your Contract Note is always the final word on what you were charged.
